What Students Are Saying

Mike helped me from q-dropping math 152 to getting an A and excelling in math 251 and physics. He teaches concepts and develops math and physics intuition, making the classes much less daunting and more interesting.

Student review

I was able to get a good grasp of Calculus I and bring up my final grade two letter grades from my midterm grade. I have never taken a calculus course, high school or otherwise, so I needed some serious help. Tutor Mike was awesome and never made me feel unintelligent; he just helped get me where I needed to be.

Student review

With Mike's help I was able to bring my grade up from a D to a B. His commitment to helping me form a solid foundation for the course really helped me start understanding what was happening in class.

Student review

I was really struggling in Phys 206 and after the first exam, was set to fail. Because of Mike, I was able to end the class with a B.

Student review

Mike helped me get A's in classes I thought I'd never pass.

Student review

I came to you with a C in University Physics, and you helped me understand the learning objectives to turn my grade into an A.

Student review

Coming back to school as an adult with a family was tough. Mike was able to explain the concepts and help me understand a subject I had not used in 20 years. Thank you so much!

Student review

Mike is the reason I've made nearly all A's in my engineering classes.

Student review

You teach concepts well, and it allows me to connect the material with a broader context. This also reduces the amount of memorization there is in math because I can rely on deeper understanding and intuition.

Student review

I appreciated your commitment in teaching to explain more than simply the 'methods and best strategies' to solve math and engineering problems—you believed in the importance of understanding the reasoning and concepts behind those problems. It's one thing to know how to solve a problem, it's another to know 'why' a problem is and the reason why the means to solve that problem 'work' and why they are best applied.

Student review

Was great how in depth he would explain concepts differently than learned in class.... he explained the how and the why of a topic (unlike the course lectures which just showed how to work a concept)

Student review

I am a slow learner, but your patience gave me comfort in learning difficult objectives. I enjoyed your physical demonstrations when it came to friction or inertia - it helped me visually understand what was going on. You were a fantastic teacher and it was evident you knew what you were talking about.
